Description:  This is a 40-hour training course  designed to instruct Asbestos Abatement Supervisors and Contractors on the proper asbestos abatement techniques.  The course focuses on current, state-of-the-art asbestos abatement techniques, as well as the most up-to-date federal, state and local rules and regulations.  Course participants devote 14-hours on hands-on training activities.  This course is an excellent choice for those individuals seeking licensure as Asbestos Abatement Contractor's and Supervisors.  

Pre-requisites:  All prospective participants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid state-issued ID,  be competent in speaking - writing and reading English, and have at least 2080 hours of previous experience in Asbestos Abatement Work (This is required in the States of Illinois and Indiana).  For any questions on these pre-requisites, please contact the State of Illinois Department of Health (IDPH), at: 1-217-782-3517.

HAZARDOUS WASTE SITE WORKER COURSES

HWI 101 - Hazardous Waste Site Worker Initial (Also Available in Spanish)

Description:  This training course meets the requirements found in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910.120 (e) for personnel working on hazardous waste sites. Class participants participate in both lecture and hands-on exercises during the training, using the equipment commonly found at waste sites. As a part of the training activities, participants review a simulated waste site; develop a site safety plan and recommended action. At the end of the training session, participants are tested on their new learned skills through a 50-question multiple choice exam.  Upon successful completion, class participants are awarded a training course certificate and pocket card.

HWR 201 - Hazardous Waste Site Worker Refresher (Also Available in Spanish)

Description: & In accordance with the OSHA's 1910.120, all workers who have been certified in 40-hour Hazardous Waste Site training must take a yearly refresher to maintain their certification. This one-day course updates trainees on regulatory information, as well as  state-of-the-art work practices and allows workers to improve hazardous waste site protection methods. The course consists of tabletop exercises and may contain hands-on demonstrations depending on the curriculum, which is changed yearly.

MOLD REMEDIATION WORKER COURSE

MRE  101 - Mold Remediation Specialist Training/span> (Also Available in Spanish)

Description:  SWC  offers certifications for Mold Remediators.  Mold certifications are starting to become required by many homeowners' insurance companies for any projects where contractors will be working with mold-damage.  Many states and provinces are also starting to become more aware of mold and are beginning to enact legislation that will require mold certifications or mold licenses to do mold inspections or remediation.
